Erosion is a scaled stressor to coastal resilience, with hyperlocal effects (the shoreline in front of your house is disappearing) to Atlantic beach erosion, like at the Indian River Inlet. Erosion can threaten roads, bridges, house foundations, and the land that supports salt marshes and maritime forests. As the sediments are washed into local waterways, they can bury clams and oysters, suffocate fish, and disrupt boating channels. Generally, the Inland Bays have too little sediment.
