Join us for an inspiring and thought-provoking evening at the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays’ Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC)–Citizens Café on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, as we explore the theme: Innovative Solutions for Enhancing Water Health.
This free event will feature two expert speakers, each offering a unique perspective on improving our water systems. Charmaine Dahlenburg, Director of Field Conservation at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, will share the success story of their Harbor Wetland, a cutting-edge floating wetland ecosystem that has not only restored vital habitats but also brought back wildlife, including river otters. Learn how this innovative technology is transforming urban water quality and what it means for the role floating wetlands can play in urban conservation. Next, Dr. Nicholas Ray, Assistant Professor at the University of Delaware’s School of Marine Science and Policy, will present his work on stormwater ponds in coastal Delaware. His research interests center on the biogeochemistry and ecology of aquatic ecosystems, and how these systems respond to environmental changes. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, ask questions, and be part of the solution for a healthier, more resilient future for our local waters!
There are two options for attending this hybrid meeting—in person at the Center’s office (39375 Inlet Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971) or virtually (information below).
