The Delaware Center for the Inland Bays (Center) and Maryland Coastal Bays Program (MCBP) are excited to offer “Journey Up the Coast: An In-Person Exploration of the DE Inland and MD Coastal Bays” for children ages 6-12 this summer! This unique “bay-hop” education program will include a series of fun interactive activities focused on topics such as watersheds, estuaries, and wildlife guided by Center and MCBP environmental educators.
There are two date options for the program. Registration for each day will be separate. Registration for Maryland will be released in late-May and registration for Delaware will be released in mid-June. Youth are welcome to participate in one or both sessions! Please note that each day takes place at a different location and will offer slightly different activities.
Day 1: Thursday, July 10th from 9:00 – 11:30 am at Assateague State Park in Berlin, MD
Day 2: Thursday, July 31st from 9:00 – 11:30 am at James Farm Ecological Preserve in Ocean View, DE
This program is FREE, but donations are greatly appreciated and will help support Center and MCBP educational programming. As you may know, recent federal changes could impact access to funding for the Center and MCBP, since both organizations are part of the National Estuary Program and rely on federal funding. While challenges lie ahead, both organizations’ commitment to preserving and restoring local estuaries remains strong. Your support is more important than ever. If you’re able, please consider making a donation to help us continue this vital work. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. Donations can be submitted through the following link: https://inlandbays.givevirtuous.org/donate/friend-of-the-bays. Please indicate “JUTC” in the comment box. Donations can also be accepted on the day of the program in the form of cash or a check made out to “Delaware Center for the Inland Bays” with “JUTC” written in the memo.
Please send any additional questions to the Center’s Manager of Environmental Education, Jackie Knoll, at [email protected].
