Please join us for our April Citizens Advisory Committee: Citizen’s Café on August 24th from 6pm-8pm at the Center offices, or virtually via Zoom. This meeting will feature presentations from Dr. Marlene Saunders, Center Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, Accessibility (DEIJA) Committee Chair, and Ferry Akbar Buchanan, EPA Region 3.

Ferry Akbar Buchanan from EPA Region 3 will be present to discuss the Regional Research Partnership Program (R2P2). In 2022-2023, EPA Region 3 conducted a Regional Research Partnership Program (R2P2) project in partnership with the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays. The project focused on identifying communities in Sussex County that may be at risk due to flood exposure, pollution, and lack of services. It sought to better understand the cumulative effects from the build up of environmental and social stressors, known as cumulative impacts. This research is anticipated to help prioritize the Center’s environmental restoration projects based on the community vulnerabilities identified.

This initiative is part of the EPA Office of Research and Development (ORD)’s Regional Research Partnership Program which connects regional scientists with ORD scientists on top regional priorities.
