Melina Vella
Melina Vella joined the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays (CIB) as Data Coordinator in April of 2024.
Academically, Melina holds a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science from the University of Delaware and a Master of Education in Environmental Education from Bard College’s Center for Environmental Policy. Her studies placed emphasis on place-based learning, environmental justice, and marine science youth programming.
Professionally, Melina has served as an environmental educator and researcher for the Hudson Valley’s Norrie Point Environmental Center, the Cornell Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering, and the Maria Mitchell Association on Nantucket Island. More recently, Melina has served as an Interpretive Naturalist at Lums Pond State Park, and the DuPont Nature Center in Slaughter Beach, DE.
Melina brings experience in environmental advocacy, education, data analysis, and proficiency in geographic information systems (GIS). In her spare time, Melina loves watching professional women’s soccer and going to any beach where there are horseshoe crabs.
