Participants in this program will be detectives on the case as they search for clues that will allow them to identify organisms by the tracks they leave behind around the Indian River Bay! This program will focus on using the five senses to observe and study the unique characteristics of tracks that belong to important organisms in the Inland Bays ecosystems. As a group, we will view up close photos of different tracks and identify what tracks belong to what organisms. There will also be an opportunity to find similar tracks ourselves during our exploration at the James Farm Ecological Preserve!
Perfect for participants of all ages! Kid’s days allow children of all ages to connect with nature and explore by utilizing hands-on learning!
Participants will be in and around the water, so please wear clothes & shoes that can get wet and/or sandy. Closed-toe shoes are encouraged. Please remember to bring water, sunscreen and insect repellant, if desired since the Preserve can be buggy.
Please note: Participants under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian present at all times. Thank you for your cooperation.
We’ll be walking about .5 mile to the beach and spending the majority of the program at the beach wading in the water.
This program is weather permitting. Attendance is free, registration is encouraged.
